Chemical free cleaning book Cleaning without chemicals

Kitchen cleaning : Large kitchen appliances

Keeping up on the cleaning and the up keep of your appliances will prolong their life. The cleaner your appliances are the better they are going to be able to perform their functions in your life. Here are a few quick and easy to use ideas for cleaning your appliances without having to worry about chemicals on your food or in your clothes.

Kill mold
To clean out your refrigerator or freezer and to kill mold at the same time, use straight vinegar and then rinse with water. This will freshen the inside while cleaning at the same time.

Inside the refrigerator
You can clean the interior of the refrigerator with a mixture of lemon juice, vinegar and water for a scented clean that disinfects as well.

Ice trays
If you have white deposits in your ice tray that won’t wash away, don’t throw it away – soaking it in boiled vinegar will take that white stain away.

Washing machines
To keep your washing machine and dishwasher clean and in top running order, you can pour a gallon of vinegar into the washing machine and fill it with water. Let this sit for the day or just overnight and then finish out the rinse cycle as you normally would. This will cut hard water deposits, and soap scum that is left behind from detergents.

Too many suds
If you have too many suds in a load of laundry, adding a cup of vinegar to the wash will keep the suds down and clean residue detergent from the machine.

Stained appliances
To clean stains on all of your appliances like your refrigerator, washer or in your dishwasher you can make a paste of baking soda and vinegar. Rubbing the paste on the stain will bring it right up. Use this on enamel surfaces, not on plastic parts where the baking soda could scratch the surface

Sticky spills
To get sticky spills out of the bottom of your refrigerator, use very hot water on a soft cloth and repeat as needed until the mess is washed up.

Backs of your appliances
Clean the dust off of the backs of your appliances. This will help them run more efficiently, clean with a half and half mixture of water and vinegar. This will also cut static around these areas as well. You might want to clean the backs of your appliances at least twice a year if you have pets because hair will accumulate behind your appliances easily.
