Can openers
Washing your can opener with full strength vinegar after each use will cut down on the build up of mess that accumulates to prolong the life of this appliance. Using an old toothbrush dipped in vinegar is excellent for cleaning the blade of your can opener. You can also use ammonia to clean your can opener. Just use it as you would the vinegar to keep build ups at bay.
Coffee percolator
Using two cups of vinegar and ten cups of water in your coffee percolator once a month will keep your coffee flowing fast.
Toasters
If your toaster is looking a little dingy, wiping it down with vinegar and a soft cloth will remove all the grease and finger marks.
If when you use your toaster you get more smoke than you care for, you will probably find that the cause is left over bits of burnt toast or waffles. You can easily clean it out! First be sure to unplug your toaster, then using a tooth brush scrub the inside of the toaster (dry!) to get all the caked on food rubbed out fast so you next batch of toast won’t turn on the fire alarms.
Dish boards
Soaking your dish board in ammonia water over night will break up the gunk that grows in the bottom of the hard to reach areas
Food processors
If you use your food processor all the time you know how fast food can get caked on in all the little crevices. Using a toothbrush dipped in full strength vinegar will work it out. You can also use salt water on a toothbrush to clean out the crevices on your food processor or blender. Make your solution thick so the salt is used as an abrasive.
Hot soapy water will clean grease off of the inside of your food processor when you have been chopping meats. Wiping it out with vinegar will clean as it deodorizes. Be sure to rinse well with fresh water.
Deep fat fryer
When you are cleaning your deep fryer, (the outside) after every use, try using full strength vinegar on your towel to cut grease fast. You can also use one cup of ammonia with a quart of warm water to cut grease when you are cleaning the exterior of your fryer or your fryer baskets.
When you have poured all the grease out of your fryer and you need to soak up the remaining grease, use about two cups of salt poured in the bottom of the fryer to soak up the grease and simply wipe this out of the fryer with a paper towel into the garbage. You will use less paper towels and it is less messy.
