Knives
For a sharper knife set, dampening your knife sharpener with vinegar before you sharpen your knives will leave a cleaner edge.
Wiping your knives down with full strength vinegar will cut dirt, on the wood handles, fast when rubbed briskly with a rough rag.
Dish boards
Is your dish board looking like it is growing mold? This black gunk will come off by making a paste of vinegar and salt and scrubbing the black area briskly. After scrubbing let this sit for about an hour for a deep clean and then rinse with hot soapy water for a clean that looks as good as new!
Dishwashers
Cut back on the rinse agents you buy for your dishwasher by adding one cup of vinegar to your dishwasher where your rinse agent is to be held. Using vinegar in the dishwasher will cut the hard water stains in the dishwasher, clean all the interior pipes and prolong the life of your machine. Oh, it also leaves your dishes sparkling clean.
Water distiller
Boiling a pan of water with three cups of vinegar and pouring it through your water distiller will keep it fresh, clean and free of harmful bacteria that could be floating in the air in your home.
Kitchen telephones
If you have a telephone in your kitchen you will find that it becomes quite filthy. Well here is some advice to keep it squeaky clean. Finger marks, grease and grime can all be removed with a cotton bud and a bowl of ammonia for a deep clean. You can also clean your telephone with a sponge and rubbing alcohol for a great shine and clean that you know it disinfected as well. Yet another way is by using one cup of vinegar and one cup of water and wiping the entire telephone down. This is especially useful is there is a lot of grease involved.
Garbage disposal
Clean your garbage disposal by pouring ice down the disposal and turning it on. While the disposal is running pour three to four cups of full strength vinegar into the disposal to cut grease, grime and odors. Another method is to boil two lemons (that you cut in half) and adding one cup on ammonia to this mixture then pouring down the disposal. This will clean grime out of your garbage disposal.
Hard water stains
If you have hard water stains in your sink, filling the bottom of the sink with full strength vinegar and letting it sit over night will loosen the stains so you can scrub it clean with a thick salt water mixture.
